Recipe: Making Easy Wholemeal Quiches!

Hi guys!
Sharing one of my favourite and most easiest recipes with you!
Takes about 20 minutes to make (15 minutes cooking time).

You can substitute anything with anything.
Spam, tuna, bacon, feta, other types of cheese.... You name it!
I haven't tried it with white bread before.... I think wholemeal would give it a better crunch (do I sound like an excelling lil food critic yet?)

Nom nom nom!

Salami has always been my favourite type of meat :D
I bought swiss cheese at the deli yesterday, can't wait to try it out!

Ingredients:
(Makes 6 mini quiches)

*2 eggs
*6 slices wholemeal bread
*1/2 cup cheese
*3 slices of salami (or some spam, tuna....)
*tablespoon of butter
*green onions (optional)

Method:
1. Preheat oven to 160 degrees
2. Making the crusts, cut circles as wide as you can reaching the edges of all six slices of your bread!
3. Melt a tablespoon of butter in the microwave for 10 seconds
4. Line butter on six of the muffin slots
5. Butter your bread (optional)
6. Combine two eggs, green onions (optional) and cheese into a bowl and mix!
7. Squish the bread into each muffin slot, making a little dip for the mix to go in.
8. Chuck everything in, the little salami bits too!
9. Top it off with more cheese (optional)
10. Pop it into the oven for 15 minutes
11. Enjoy!

Windows movie maker always kills my quality btw :(

This dish is absolutely excellent for me because I am never able to finish a whole loaf of bread, it's a great (and fun) way to use it all up!

Now I'm going to skip over to Moon Fest! Yay! FOood!

How to: Growing scallions in water! + Progress video!

I go through stalks and stalks of green onions whenever I cook. It's ridiculous! So I decided to try this method after purchasing a bunch of green onions for $1.49 at my local grocer, cut it about two inches from the roots and set it in water.

These babies will be the key to our success, pretty little roots.

Okay so the way the scallions grow is from the holes! Pretty cool!

Method:

1. Grab your scallions and trim them put to the lighter green/white bit.
I trimmed just above where they split!
 2. Fill up the container/cup you want to use with water. Half a cup of water will be fine (but it depends on how narrow your container is). I used a greek yogurt container from Coles! I've always used this container to store my nuoc mam :D, super handy!

 3. Emmerse the trimmed scallions into the water, root side down of course.

And that's it!

 GROW MY PRETTIES!

 Yay, there you go!

I propped them at my kitchen window sill because they look cute like that :)
The one on the right, I did 2 days before the left one! You can see how much it's grown :)

Annnd zoomed in,
See how they're growing from the inside?!

Progress video whats up!

Byyye!

Edit: Things I've noted after all this...
*The plant will eat up the water! You need to refill it every few days..
*I've snipped mine off three times and it's still growing!
*It makes a pretty sight on your kitchen window sill ☺

How to: Shapeshifting Strawberries

49c a punnet at my local grocers? Well, my golly, I'll buy one please!
Tis' the strawberry season to be jolly. I've never liked strawberries but with these outrageously low prices these past few weeks, I will love them (until they learn to love themselves ...okay no more references.)

To make them that little bit more appealing to eat, why not make them pretty?
Sprinkle em over your breakfast!

Each strawberry will make 3-4 hearts depending on one of the two methods you follow.
Remember to wash them before you begin! We will be eating them straight away :)

Heart Shaped Strawberries
Method 1:
 1. Grab a strawbaby

2. Tops awwwf!

3. Slice from top downwards , make sure you start from the outside of the white circle, 1 millemetre inwards.
Once cut, you will have three pieces.

4. Piece 1: - So pretty!

5. Now cut a little v shape with your knife

Repeat step 5 with the two other pieces.

Piece 2: Slice just the same

 Piece 3: Slice!

And you will end up with three beautiful simple heart shaped strawberries. Wasn't that easy!

Now, method two, the difference between the this method and the previous one is that we will be slicing it into four instead!

Method 2:
1. Tops off and slice in half

2. Grab one half

3. Slice a millimetre from the edge inwards from the white circle

4. Slice! Like this!

5. And cut into a 'v'

Repeat steps 2 - 5 with the other half.

And you have beautiful strawberry heart shaped treats!

Now sprinkle em on your food for a sweet treat...
Dig in!
